Dewey's pizza was born from a simple conviction: Kirkwood deserved a pizza that tasted like it was made with love, not cut corners. Founded in 2003 by longtime Missouri native Dewey Callahan, our first location on Kirkwood Road opened its doors with just five pies on the menu — and a wood-fired oven we hauled in from Italy.
From that humble start, deweys pizza grew into a neighborhood institution. Regulars know us by name. Families celebrate milestones here. Friday nights at our restaurant are practically a Kirkwood tradition. Every pie that leaves our oven carries two decades of refined technique and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Dewey Callahan opens the first Dewey's pizza at 124 N Kirkwood Rd with a wood-fired oven, five signature pies, and a dream. Lines form out the door on opening night.
Growing demand leads us to expand our menu to 25+ items including specialty calzones, artisan salads, and house-made desserts. We launch our catering service for corporate events and weddings.
We sign our first partnership with Missouri-based farms, committing to source over 60% of our produce locally. Our new seasonal menu rotates with the harvest, bringing fresh variety to our guests.
A full dining room renovation introduces a warm, bold new aesthetic. We add a craft beer bar featuring rotating Missouri microbrewery taps to complement our handcrafted pies.
We adapt quickly, launching contactless delivery and curbside pickup. We also launch a community meal program, providing over 3,000 meals to Kirkwood families in need throughout the year.
